About Koumori Do
Koumori Do is a thought-experiment, meant to consider the following things:
1) That the traditional practices of the martial arts can be used to produce a suite of skills directly useful to society. That the martial arts have indirect social benefit is manifest: in terms of health, discipline, and ethics, the martial arts provide a background that is individually useful to citizens, and thereby to society as a whole. But is it possible to use those same approaches — intense, voluntary, long-term commitment to a specific discipline and ideal — to train students to directly fulfill specific roles in society.
2) To establish the possibility that, in a potential global environment in which virtually all public services have been privatized, that there is a class of experts in urban investigation and law enforcement both willing and equipped to fulfill the responsibilities of police detectives and other equivalent investigative occupations.
3) To determine the financial viability of a four-year, private university dedicated to training expert urban martial artist detectives.
